2019 Update | Quarter 1

Hello Friends, I am sure many are feeling the same as we are. This year is flying by! We wanted to take a few moments and give you an update on Hearts With Hands, but also to say THANK YOU to all the supporters and volunteers. As we prepare now for the "busy season" (hurricane season begins June 1), we know we couldn't assist with projects small or large if it were not for your prayers and support! We are currently restocking our warehouse in preparation for the next disaster that we are able to respond to. Please take a look at the attached supply list and if you're interested in hosting a collection drive contact us at alyce@heartswithhands.org today!

We began this year preparing supplies for the Buncombe County School's Supply Closet. “It could be illness or maybe they lost their home to a fire or a hurricane on the coast,” explained BCS' youth in transition coordinator Ms. Christine Craft. “Whether it’s food for the weekend or a few days of toiletries, our school community is always wrapping their arms around their families in need.” Our local community has over 450 homeless students enrolled in one of our local schools. We provide Box of Hope food boxes, hygiene items, paper products, water and more as needed to keep this closet stocked. On Valentine's Day we were able to drop off those supplies. It was a great day to show love to those in our community.

We were blessed to be invited by several churches and organizations for events to share about Hearts With Hands. One of our highlights was being back with our friends at First Baptist in Naples, FL. We partnered with this church family during Hurricane Irma in 2017. Their army of volunteers did such a great work getting supplies into their community during that time. Since then, their heart for missions has only grown. In addition to sharing over 10 times about the ministry of HWH to various groups throughout the week, we left this missions conference so encouraged and excited to work together to bring physical and spiritual relief to hurting people.

On March 7, we sent a tractor trailer of supplies to First Baptist of Opelika, Alabama. Their church became a distribution center for those who lost everything during the tornado's. We were thankful that this church stepped up to be the hands and feet during such a devastating time. Continue to be in prayer for that community.

HWH was the host of the 2019 potato drop on March 16. This is where local food kitchens from Western, NC can collect potatoes to serve to those in need.

There is still a great need in the panhandle of FL after Hurricane Michael . We have various contacts and projects still taking place there.

GET INVOLVED

PARTNERS - If you, your church or business are not currently a monthly and regular supporter of HWH, would you please consider what you could do each month to help us to expand to help more people?

BOX OF HOPE - We need individuals, businesses, and churches to help us with the Box of Hope project by sponsoring food boxes. 1 Box = $20 and 1 Pallet (100 boxes) = $2,000.

RISE UP CAMPAIGN - We are in the process of purchasing our current warehouse space, the 40 acre campus with a 200,000 square foot warehouse facility. We are asking 1,000 people, businesses or Churches to commit to $1,000 a year for 5 years. This gift of $5,000 will help us in the purchase of this beautiful property.

VOLUNTEER - You can Text HeartsWithHands to 97000 or visit heartswithhands.org/volunteer to receive the latest news and notifications about opportunities to serve.

HOW CAN YOU PRAY?

Please pray for my health. I have recently seen a nutritionist due to high blood pressure problems. The doctor has advised some diet changes and restrictions and we are believing that God will touch my body without needing further medications. Please continue to pray for more "Rise Up and Build" partners. We want to pay off our warehouse space by 2021. Although I have been able to do a lot of the cleanup and repairs on my own with volunteers, we need a new roof, and I will have to hire someone for that project. It is very costly, so please pray we will receive the donations needed toward the specific need. Pray that as we prepare for more disasters that the donations will be provided. Pray for partnerships with business to get items donated or at wholesale rate. Please pray that we as a ministry will effectively minister and share the gospel to those in their time of despair.
